Process LAB is our new Research and Development Laboratory at FORM. Our mission is to encourage new ideas. We collaborate with artists and educators who are immersed in innovative processes and whom share an inquisitive nature in how Fine Art and Technology coalesce.
FORM and ADX have partnered to launch the 2018 FORM+ADX Artist-in-Residency (AiR) Program. FORM+ADX AiR is located in Portland, OR. It is a project open to contemporary visual artists in all disciplines. This includes scholars, community artists, architects, designers, scientists, engineers and environmentalists.
The program is meant to connect artists with FORM and ADX resources, technology, and materials in order to provide the space necessary to explore new ideas, processes, and perspectives. FORM was founded on the idea of that the newest advances in 3D technology could energize and elevate artists in new and exciting directions. ADX is a hub for collaboration where individuals and organizations make and learn. By sharing tools, knowledge, and experience, ADX believes in doing things better by working together. As such, this program is a first of its kind. The FORM+ADX AiR recipient will receive a 3-month work space at FORM that includes 3D digital process and printing, a 3-months ADX membership to work with various materials and equipment, and 1-month solo exhibition at ANX Gallery, which is housed at ADX. ANX Gallery is regularly open to the public 12-5pm daily.
An individual artist (not artist team or collaboration) will be selected through a two part process: first, nominations will be considered and secondly, a competitive jury will make the final selection. This jury will include but not be limited to, the FORM founder, ADX founder, rotating members of the FORM+ADX AiR team, a leading member of an art institution, and a leading member of a foundry community. The artist will pursue work independently in a diverse and supportive community of peers. The applicant must be: a professional artist recognized by their peers with a minimum of 3 years experience (no experience with 3D programs is required), a current resident of Multnomah, Clackamas, or Washington Counties, and an Oregon resident for a minimum of 3 years. Our intent is to enhance and highlight innovative ideas for the artist and FORM+ADX to collectively expand and pursue a new direction with new work. To be considered, applicants must submit an Intent to Apply with supplementary material no later than Sunday, December 17, 2017, 11:59 pm PST.
